Edmonds College is a public two-year college located just 25 minutes north of Seattle in Washington state. Located in the Pacific Northwest of the United States, Edmonds College is about 1.5 hours from Vancouver, Canada, and minutes away from beaches and waterfront parks on beautiful Puget Sound.
The campus is in a safe, quiet suburb of Seattle and provides the perfect environment for students to study. The college partners with local businesses such as The Boeing Co., Giddens Industries, and Crane Aerospace to match its training to employer needs. It has a well-equipped materials science lab. Classes introduce students to composite materials and engineering design and prepare students for entry-level positions or to enter bachelor’s degree programs. Students can also gain business skills for manufacturing careers. The college houses the National Resource Center for Materials Education Technology, which provides curriculum for materials technology nationwide, and operates the Washington Aerospace Training and Research Center, which offers accelerated, industry-specific, entry-level training in aerospace manufacturing.

Above and Beyond
Students have opportunities to challenge themselves with high-level academic programs including: Honors classes; undergraduate research projects in disciplines such as physics with partners including CWU, UW, and NASA; and more than 20 service-learning projects with community partners each quarter. They apply what they learn in hands on projects and internships. Engineering students may build submarines, racecars, or windmills and digital forensics students work on actual criminal cases. Students are optimally prepared to succeed at the university level.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math)
With 20 National Science Foundation grants, the college provides more opportunities for STEM students including support services. It is increasing the number of students in science by reaching out to those who, without support, won’t earn math or science degrees, including many women, underrepresented minorities, low-income, and first-generation college students. Programs of study include: digital forensics, engineering, engineering technology, and Associate of Science degrees with five areas of specialty. The college holds community events and workshops that connect with K-12 schools, students, and parents and increase interest in science studies and careers at an early age.

Homestay Students:
Create friendships that last a lifetime. By living with a family, students can make new friends and improve their English skills as they experience family life in America. Ongoing support is provided by the Housing Services staff, which also trains and selects each family and places students by introducing them to prospective families.
Room, Food, Family Life:
The family will include the student as a member of their family, including participation in family activities and daily life. Students may be expected to be more independent in taking care of themselves than with their family at home. Students are expected to clean their own room, do their laundry, and clean up after themselves in the kitchen. Students are provided three meals a day. They help themselves to breakfast and lunch and the host family cooks a nice, hot, fresh meal for dinners. Any special foods, snacks, or personal items, students purchase for themselves.

Dedicated Student Support
Edmonds College has an Office of International Programs that is committed to helping international students succeed. They offer workshops, presentations, and fairs to help students achieve their academic and professional goals. Advisers help students with academics, visa questions, and personal and cultural needs. We also have advisers who specialize in guiding students during the university transfer process.
Optional Practical Training (OPT)
OPT provides up to 12 month work experience opportunity for F-1 visa students upon completion of a qualifying degree or certificate program at Edmonds College. Students have a second OPT opportunity upon completing a bachelor's degree at a transfer university.
Transfer to Top Universities
A two-year transferable associate's degree program at Edmonds College provides the first two years of a bachelor's degree. Students transfer to a university of their choice to complete the third and fourth year for a bachelor's degree.
University Acceptance and Transfer Agreements
The two-year associate’s degree in arts or sciences will usually transfer to any university in the United States. In order to assure that the university will accept all of the credits in the associate’s degree, Edmonds College makes transfer and articulation agreements with specific universities. Edmonds has transfer agreements to accept the associate’s degree with all of the state public universities in Washington State, including the Central Washington University, Eastern Washington University, Evergreen State College, University of Washington, Washington State University, and Western Washington University.
Guaranteed Conditional Acceptance
Students may receive guaranteed conditional acceptance to a university upon admission to Edmonds College. Guaranteed conditional acceptance is granted to students who meet the conditions of the accepting university, which include completion of the associate’s degree with a minimum grade point average (GPA). Each university has its own GPA minimum requirements.

Foundation Scholarships
Each year, the college Foundation provides scholarships and emergency grants for many students. Scholarship criteria vary; some are for specific areas of study or for those with specific backgrounds or needs.
Applicants will be considered for all scholarships for which they are eligible. All required materials must be included in an application packet. Students qualify for and may receive funds from multiple scholarships, but only need to submit one application.
Complete the Dream Scholarship
Students may only apply for the Foundation’s Complete the Dream Scholarship during their last or graduation quarter. You must also have experienced a significant financial, medical, or family loss that has required you to drop your classes and therefore not graduate. The Complete the Dream Scholarship funds are available to help students through tough times and enable them to graduate despite a personal crisis.
OIP Merit Scholarships
For New Student College or High School Scholarship ($1,000), applicants must be a first-time Edmonds College student starting in the College or High School program full time. Applicants must submit their unofficial transcript in English from the last school attended showing at least one term of grades with a minimum 3.3 GPA. We do not accept test scores (ex. IGSCE, TOEFL). If you are applying as an online student no visa is required.
For College or High School Merit Scholarship ($500), applicants must be currently enrolled in only college or high school courses. Applicants must submit their Edmonds College unofficial transcript showing their last quarter grades with a minimum 3.5 GPA and a current copy of their class registration schedule showing a minimum of 12 credits. All documents must show the student’s name and SID number for eligibility.
